Mitraniketan in collaboration with RuTAG, IIT Madras is organizing a one day workshop on Appropriate Rural Technologies for individuals and organizations engaged in S&T based activities, on 17th May 2013.
This workshop aims to identify the gaps in rural technologies in rural areas of Kerala. There are large number of appropriate technologies developed and in use at different parts of India. Still there are potentials to develop or adopt appropriate technologies for the grass root level, based on local needs. In this backdrop, we are organizing a one day workshop.
Also this workshop is an open forum for discussion of various issues faced by the organizations and institutions working on rural development sector, and attempt to find some feasible solutions.

Objectives:
1. Identification of technology gaps with the help of NGO’s working in rural sector.
2. Linking the NGOs with S & T institutions to find feasible solutions for problems in rural areas.
3. Create awareness about RuTAG support on development & transfer of appropriate technologies.

Principle:
The principle behind this initiative is that the technical knowledge available in the educational and R&D institutions should be made available for the benefit of rural areas.

Join us:
We invite interested persons, deligates from S & T based NGOs, Engineering colleges and other relevant agencies for the workshop to discuss and deliberate on appropriate technologies so as to identify technology gaps and develop an action plan for future activities at grass root level. You are requested to bring specific technology problems for discussion with our team as well as the participating technical institutions.
